Diableries
Pre-publication peek into the latest scholarship on the various series of diableries, accompanied by illustrations. Currently one gallery is open but the rest will open soon. Please click HERE

It is over five years since we had any diableries for sale. Described as 'the most remarkable body of work made for stereo viewing', they are fascinating and are the subject at present of much research, both in France and in the United States. There is no point me describing the history of these views as current research is available on the net. Please click  HERE for probably the best brief history. Also, see Bob Schreiber's article 'Classifying Diableries' in Stereo World, Volume 30, Number 4. The one (pretty) comprehensive book illustrating the views in black and white is Diableries. La vie quotidienne chez Satan à la fin du 19e siècle, by Jac Remise, a copy of which will now set you back around $400. He lists 72 views - and we are offering all 72 here, plus a number of additional views. We have also included any card views, including pirated copies. Some of these extras obviously form part of a second set and we have included them at the appropriate numbering point. Although they look like the same mounts as the main series, they all have four identifying differences: 1. They do not carry the Block (BK) logo in the center of the mount. 2. The mounts are almost a quarter inch narrower than the standard Block mount. 3. Satan is not mentioned in the descriptions (possibly copyright problems); where necessary he is described as 'Diable'. 4. There is extensive use of painted backdrops.

A word about damage. A nimber of these have splits or other damage. We don't do any repairs so they are all as-found. We have tried to photograph and describe all the damage but, of course, our money-back guarantee applies if you receive the view and are not happy with it. Many of the splits do not show up when viewing.

All views are in the order set out in Remises' book. As and when they sell I will leave the images on as a record - but mark them as sold.
