Views By Fortescue Mann

Not a name that trips off the tongue, Fortescue Mann was a Hastings photographer who later set up a business in London. Most of the views on this page are handwritten (18)97 on the back but some probably were from earlier negs. He deserves a wider audience and I regard him as one of the finer undiscovered photographers. He has a different approach to almost everyone else and uses working class subjects and events. Even his views of the 1897 Jubilee are sharper and more immediate. Well worth having a few in your collection.
