There are some very fine views here
by W. Mayland, a Cambridge photographer whose work is rated 'scarce to
rare' by Treadwell. I have seen little of his work before but it is impressive
both in composition and processing terms. He was working in the 1850/60s
and was also a portrait photographer. He was complimented for his work
in The British Journal of Photography. January 15 1863, p.31, and may have
been the W. Mayland working in London with T.R. Williams in 1862. These
views came as a group and some have a Mayland blindstamp or back label.
Others are unmarked but seem almost certainly by the same hand. I will
mark this latter group as 'probably Mayland'.
