This
section is ordered into counties although many of the old names are
used. It does not contain the fine Scottish views of George Washington
Wilson which cover much of the same geographical area. These can be viewed

Edinburgh.
The
first views are all early and date from the late 1850s
J. Cramb, Photographer to the
Queen (blindstamp). 'A view from Calton Hill, towards south-east'.
John Cramb, 67 West Nile Street, Glasgow (also at Lanark). Used two small
stereo cameras of his own construction which were placed at each side of
his 8X10 camera, enabling him to take stereo and full plate at the same
time (Treadwell). Also went to Jerusalem in 1860 and published 'Series
of Photograpic Views'.
Condition. A gouge in the
mount on the left side which continues under the image (so must
have been on the mount before the image was mounted). Images good and clear..
