Scotland, page two

This section was totally rebuilt in May 2005 with the addition of over 200 fresh views. It is ordered into counties although many of the old names are used. It does not contain any of the fine Scottish views of George Washington Wilson which cover much of the same geographical area. These can be viewed by clicking  here.

Banffshire (partly Aberdeenshire)

The next group of views are by John Cockburn of Keith and are of the Keith and MacDuff area. They are in 7 by 4 inch (18 by 10 cm) format. Treadwell notes Cockburn as an Edinburgh (probably amateur) photographer, and he had seen a view by him of fisherwomen packing herring. He had a good eye and these are worth including - especially as nobody else seems to have stereographed this area. All bear a stamp 'Photo by John Cockburn, Keith', are on thick board mounts, and are condition 9 unless mentioned otherwise. All have, to some extent, a couple of vertical ridges from the mounting process.
