Tintern Abbey

Tintern Abbey was probably the most stereographed ruin in England. It is still magnificent today (modern photo) although I prefer it in Victorian times with ivy eating away at the stonework. Well worth a visit when you are over this side of the Pond. For views of Tintern by Francis Bedford please click here.

The next two are quite exceptional 1850s views by the same photographer. Numbered consecutively and description in the same hand. They don't scan well but are superb when viewed. The only candidates I can think of for these are Goodman or T.R. Williams. Any ideas? They all carry a retailer's label of Fred. Alex. Dunn (late of Oxford Street, London), Operative Chemist, Chepstow.
