Views by Frank Good from his 'Eastern Series'

Frank Mason Good (1839-1928) was a photographic chemicals manufacturer who turned his hand to photography with stunning results. He was at one time assistant to Francis Frith who sponsored his first trip to the Middle East (1866/67). His early training meant that his processing was of the highest quality and apart from his views of the Middle East, he produced fine views of Greece and Turkey. Tex Treadwell describes his views of England as 'unexceptional' but anyone who saw the collection of his views of the Tower of London which we sold some time ago would take issue with that.
Overall he is grossly undervalued in the pecking order of 19th century stereographers. He died at the age of 90 forgotton and unknown. Although his work is in the Getty collection and many others it is high time his work was reevaluated and reinstated to the position it deserves.

These views stray into the territory of Palestine but I wanted to keep them in one place. They are from his 'Eastern Series'.
