Goshawk, Photographer, Harrow. No location.  Handwritten: ' H.E.L. from C.L.H. Febr. 6 1859'.  Also marked H.E. Legh.  This ties in with a  facsimilie book titled Memorials of a Harrow schoolboy [W.D. Legh] by C.L.H.  which is available on Amazon as a Kindle edition. William Dawson Legh (1801-1893) was the father of Henry Edmund Legh (H.E.L.) who was 21 in the 1861 census, making him 19 on the date of this view when he was an undergraduate at Oxford. More family history if you are interested  HERE.
The Harrow School photographer from the 1860s was Goshawk on the corner of West Street and High Street, Harrow. When he died in 1872, the job went to Hills & Saunders. There are a number of cartes and portrait photographs recorded but I can find no record of stereoviews.

The next three nearly fooled me. The location is given as 'Burley' and they mention 'The Apostles'. Up comes 'The Apostles, Burley Moor, Ilkley, West Yorkshire' a ring of stones. Fine! Except that trees like this don't grow on the rocks of Ilkley Moor. By sheer coincidence there is a village called Burley in Hampshire which also had 12 Apostles. Theirs were trees - and here we are. They are lovely views and, for once, I want to sell the three as a group. Price $65. Order #769.
