Malta

The next views are an exceptionally rare - probably unique - group of early views of Malta. I have researched these and am pretty sure they are the earliest stereoviews of Malta that exist. I have not been able to find any views of Malta that are this early. They are exceptional for a number of reasons: they are well-photographed, they are extremely well processed and exhibit no fading or other deterioration, and they are in superb condition.
I can fairly safely date these to 1858 or 1859. One is of the British Man-o-War The Marlborough, which visited Malta in both those years. These nearly all have the location written on the back in Victorian hand and are numbered. They are not cheap - especially the best views - but they are exceptional. I have graded these as 9 but most are as-new.
